Viva Las Vegas

We are back from Vegas. I have tons of photos but haven't managed to put them online yet, but I'll give you the basic synopsis here:

Vegas hotels are HUGE. You can walk a half mile and still be in the same damn hotel.

The Pyramid Spa Suite was sweet. Big huge tub with jacuzzi jets, right by the window looking over the pool. The shower in the bathroom was pretty damn nice, too. Easily big enough for two. :-)

The breakfast buffet at the Luxor had eggs Benedict AND biscuits and gravy. I was a happy camper. And Nick has definitely inherited my love-of-breakfast-foods gene.

The Tournament of Kings show at Excalibur is a lot of fun. The horsemanship and the acrobatics are AMAZING. The food isn't that great, however.

I got a seasonal spa package: tequila-lime massage, tequila-lime sugar scrub, and a tequila-lime facial. The massage wasn't much to write home about, but the sugar scrub was terrific. I wish I'd had time to linger afterwards in the Roman-bath-looking hot tub, but I had to meet the boys for our dinner show.

It's fun that you can wander around anywhere in Vegas with a drink in your hand. I was less impressed with how smoker-friendly the city is. Blech.

I actually made money gambling! Granted, I only gambled about $30 and ended up with $35, along with 4 comped drinks. Next time, however, I will get beers. I had 4 cosmos and didn't even get a buzz. Usually that will put me under the table!

I bought a corset!

I bought the tackiest porn-star sunglasses you can imagine. They are turquoise (so is my corset--I'm kind of obsessed with the color lately) and they have rhinestones in them. DAHLING!

We went to the shark reef aquarium at Mandalay Bay. It was a nice aquarium but I think we waited in line for tickets longer than we spent inside.

The lions at the MGM Grand are cool. Meow!

Slot machines no longer take coins and they no longer spew out coins with that satisfying "ching-ching-ching" when you win. They don't have the big plastic cups anymore! You just get a ticket that you cash in at an ATM. At least some of the machines still have handles to pull instead of buttons, but a lot of the ambience has been lost.

I have learned that I am far too old to stand in huge lines at hot nightclubs, hoping against hope to be cool enough to get let in. I'm not looking for my 15 minutes, I just want to fucking dance.

We never did manage to go to the city courthouse to see if we really are married.

Photos to come...you have been warned!

1. Barcelona.

2. Florida. I want to swim on the beach where Rob grew up, with it's white powdery sand and bright blue water. I want to visit my friend F and take him up on his offer to take us fishing on his boat. I want to take the boys to Disney World just to watch them squee. And I want to visit the Keys and see the Hemingway house.

3. Rent my friends' house on Cape Cod, where I have many happy childhood memories.

4. Paris, because I didn't get enough of it the first time around.

5. Somewhere in the Caribbean where I can do lots of snorkeling with Nick.

6. Hike the Grand Canyon.

7. Rent a cabin up north in the winter and take my desert-bound husky to play in the snow and also try snowboarding (me, not the dog).

I could go on forever but these are the ones I think about most.
